No. A Strengths Coach is not the same as a Counsellor.
Both areas use techniques and tools that are research and evidence-based, and grounded in Positive Psychology, however they are not the same.
A Strength Coach helps people identify and use their strengths and talents to accomplish personal or professional goals. They empower people to develop their strengths, increase self-awareness, and create action plans.
Counsellors are trained to support people experiencing psychological illness, distress, or dysfunction. They often employ psychotherapy methods and explore the past to help understand the present.

The best coaching option is the one that helps you achieve meaningful goals, feels like a good fit, and empowers you to live your life well. Thinking about the following questions might help when deciding on the best coaching option:
what do I want from coaching?
do I have specific things I want to focus on?
what’s important to me at the moment?
what am I looking for in a coach?
what level of support would be best for me?
what is my budget and availability?
will others be involved? My partner? Team? Whānau? If so, what do I need to consider?
